The Music caused quite a stir when they
first arrived on the scene with their self-titled debut
album back in 2002.
All hailing from Leeds, the four piece
- Rob Harvey (Vocals/Guitar), Adam Nutter (Guitar),
Phil Jordan (Drums) and Stuart Coleman (Bass) signed
their first record deal after they had barely finished
school.
In 2001 Steve Lamacq described The Music
as “...The best unsigned band in Britain”,
after which they were quickly snapped up by legendary
independent label, Fierce Panda, putting
out a single of ‘Take The Long Road And Walk It’.
Shortly after, The band were signed to EMI based Hut
Records and their debut album charted straight in at
no.4. Their second album 'Welcome to the North' drew
even more critical acclaim (9/10 NME) in Autumn 2004
and charted at No.8 as well as ensuring the band sold
out tours all over the UK. Their brand can only be described
as unique. A gritty, guitar lead rock band fused with
mesmeric dance beats thrown down by Jordan. Add to the
mix the soaring lead vocals of Harvey and thunderous
bass-lines of Coleman, what comes out of the mixing
pot is some of the most intense and euphoric music you
will ever have the pleasure to hear.
Three and a half years later they are
back with their eagerly awaited third album (due for
release), and we reckon this is going to be their year,
- the year that the Music take their place alongside
the Radioheads of the world as one of the best exports
that the UK have to offer. Remember, you heard it here
first.
We are immensely proud to have The Music
headlining this year’s Covstock festival. We could
not think of a better band to headline the first full
on rock concert at the world
famous Coventry Cathedral Ruins. Their live show is
as good as it gets - it’s.
